Like a Hurricane

Once I thought I saw you in a crowded hazy bar

Dancing on the light from star to star

Far across the moonbeam I know that's who you are

I saw your brown eyes turning once to fire

You are like a hurricane

There's calm in your eye

And I'm gettin' blown away

To somewhere safer where the feeling stays

I want to love you but I'm getting blown away

I am just a dreamer but you are just a dream

And you could have been anyone to me

Before that moment you touched my lips

That perfect feeling when time just slips

Away between us on our foggy trip

You are like a hurricane

…..

You are just a dreamer and I am just a dream

You could have been anyone to me

Before that moment you touched my lips

That perfect feeling when time just slips

Away between us on our foggy trip

You are like a hurricane

Rockin' In The Free World

There's colors on the street

Red, white and blue

People shufflin' their feet

People sleepin' in their shoes

But there's a warnin' sign

on the road ahead

There's a lot of people sayin'

we'd be better off dead

Don't feel like Satan,

but I am to them

So I try to forget it,

any way I can.

Keep on rockin' in the free world,

I see a woman in the night

With a baby in her hand

Under an old street light

Near a garbage can

Now she puts the kid away,

and she's gone to get a hit

She hates her life,

and what she's done to it

There's one more kid

that will never go to school

Never get to fall in love,

never get to be cool.

Keep on rockin' in the free world,

We got a thousand points of light

For the homeless man

We got a kinder, gentler,

Machine gun hand

We got department stores

and toilet paper

Got styrofoam boxes

for the ozone layer

Got a man of the people,

says keep hope alive

Got fuel to burn,

got roads to drive.

Keep on rockin' in the free world

After the Gold Rush

Well, I dreamed I saw the knights in armor coming,
Saying something about a queen.
There were peasants singing
And drummers drumming
And the archer split the tree.

There was a fanfare blowing to the sun
That was floating on the breeze.
Look at Mother Nature on the run
In the nineteen seventies.
Look at Mother Nature on the run
In the nineteen seventies.

I was lying in a burned-out basement
With the full moon in my eyes.
I was hoping for replacement
When the sun burst through the sky.
There was a band playing in my head
And I felt like getting high.
I was thinking about what a friend had said
I was hoping it was a lie.
Thinking about what a friend had said
I was hoping it was a lie.

Well, I dreamed I saw the silver space ships flying
In the yellow haze of the sun.
There were children crying
And colors flying
All around the chosen ones.
All in a dream, all in a dream
The loading had begun.
They were flying Mother Nature's
Silver seed to a new home in the sun.
Flying Mother Nature's
Silver seed to a new home.

Words

Someone and someone
were down by the pond
Looking for something
to plant in the lawn.
Out in the fields they
were turning the soil
I'm sitting here hoping
this water will boil
When I look through the windows
and out on the road
They're bringing me presents
and saying hello.

Singing words, words
between the lines of age.
Words, words
between the lines of age.

If I was a junkman
selling you cars,
Washing your windows
and shining your stars,
Thinking your mind
was my own in a dream
What would you wonder
and how would it seem?
Living in castles
a bit at a time
The King started laughing
and talking in rhyme.

Singing words, words
between the lines of age.
Words, words
between the lines of age.

Out On The Weekend

Think I'll pack it in

and buy a pick-up

Take it down to L.A.

Find a place to call my own

and try to fix up.

Start a brand new day.

The woman I'm thinking of,

she loved me all up

But I'm so down today

She's so fine, she's in my mind.

I hear her callin'.

See the lonely boy,

out on the weekend

Trying to make it pay.

Can't relate to joy,

he tries to speak and

Can't begin to say.

She got pictures on the wall,

they make me look up

From her big brass bed.

Now I'm running down the road

trying to stay up

Somewhere in her head.

The woman I'm thinking of,

she loved me all up

But I'm so down today

She's so fine she's in my mind.

I hear her callin'.

See the lonely boy,

out on the weekend

Trying to make it pay.

Can't relate to joy,

he tries to speak and

Can't begin to say.

Helpless

There is a town in North Ontario

With dream comfort memory to spare

And in my mind, I still need a place to go

All my changes were there

Blue, blue windows behind the stars

Yellow moon on the rise

Big birds flying across the sky

Throwing shadows on our eyes

Leave us helpless, helpless, helpless

Oh baby, can you hear me now?

The chains are locked and tied 'cross my doors

Baby, baby, sing with me somehow

Blue, blue windows behind the stars
